Where the new period drama was filmed, and how to get there without a car
Three locations, all reachable by train and one bus. Opening hours, entry fees in won, and which ones allow photos.
The new period drama was shot at three places you can reach on public transport in a single day if you start early. Here is the order that keeps the bus rides short.
1. The palace courtyard
Open 09:00 to 18:00, closed Tuesdays. Entry is 3,000 won and the ticket office takes foreign cards. Photos are allowed everywhere except inside the throne hall. The courtyard scenes were filmed at the eastern gate, which is quiet before ten.
2. The folk village
Forty minutes by bus from the palace. Entry is 25,000 won, and the last admission is at 16:30. The market street set is a permanent structure, so you can walk the same path the characters take in episode three. Tripods need a permit from the front desk.
3. The riverside pavilion
Back on the train for twenty-five minutes, then a ten-minute walk. Free, open until sunset. This is where the final scene was shot; the pavilion is roped off during weddings on Saturdays, so go on a weekday if you want the exact angle.
- Bring cash for the bus if your transit card is not a Korean one.
- The folk village sells a combined ticket with the palace on weekends.
